Sopheap took her first loan of US$1,000 from Daikou Finance to start dry-season rice farming. As her business grew, her loan size increased to US$10,000. Today, the family farms year-round, has repaid their loans and even owns a motorcycle.

Giving time and health back to rural women

Like most rural families, Sokhon cooked over wood fires. The smoke was a daily health hazard. Collecting firewood took three backbreaking hours a day. That changed when an ATEC biodigester was installed in her vegetable patch. Using buffalo manure from her farm, she gets clean biogas for cooking and organic fertiliser for her crops.
